I reached out to Alex in the spring of 2021 because I wanted to change up my workout routine. I was looking for specific strength training to make me a stronger, faster runner. The individual sessions with Alex were also where I learned that I needed to work on my nutrition and how to best fuel my body. Alex is super thorough and always takes the time to listen and breakdown my thought process. He uses this information to create a workout and nutrition plan that works for me and my body. I now go into race season prepped, fueled, and feeling stronger than ever. I know that with all the knowledge and skill Alex brings to the training that my strength will continue to increase and I’ll reach my goal of qualifying for the Boston Marathon. It’s definitely helpful to have a communicative and supportive coach on your side.

Bobby

My name is Bobby, I’m a 60 year young seasoned finance professional. I’ve been very active in sports my whole life and as a consequence experienced many injuries over the years. I’ve also been in and out of gyms most of my life. Prior to Covid, I spent several years in a boot camp type training with a national franchise. Time and time again I was having to take breaks due to injuries experienced in this training.
 
A year and a half ago I noticed a notable change in the physical shape of a friend. I inquired and was introduced to Alex Pomeroy. Now a year and a half later, I work with Alex three days a week. Let me pre-warn you, I own Monday at 7:45 and Wednesday and Friday at 7:00. When we first met I couldn’t raise my arms above my shoulders, my knees were in bad shape and my body strength was not in a good place. Alex said, “while I cannot fix all the damage that has been done, I can repair what’s been done by strengthening all the other muscles in those areas”.
 
Today, I am in the best shape I’ve been in since my 20’s! My body feels great, I do exercises I never imagined I could do a year and a half ago.
 
The monthly expenditure with Alex is the second highest expenditure I have, HOWEVER it is the #1 investment I make! Investing in my body with Alex through his amazing knowledge of the body and his knowledge of my body, has changed my life! My only job in the amazing partnership is to show up with a great attitude and give 100% of what I have that day.
 
I will be a client of Alex’s for the rest of my days!

I’ve been training with Alex for over 4 years and have been friends for almost 2 decades. My fitness journey started with CrossFit and I quickly knew I needed more variety. I was completely lost in a regular gym so I decided to reach out to Alex for some tips. What started out as just a learning experience turned into my realization that I needed his guidance more than I thought. His knowledge of not only body building and nutrition but of how the human body works in general is very impressive. He is constantly growing and improving his knowledge of his sport. When I first met Ami Pomeroy, I knew immediately that she was special. Four years ago, when I was first introduced to Ami, I was in a place where I think many people, especially women, find themselves; working countless hours a week, in a rut, and prioritizing everything and everyone else over myself. Struggling with finding time to go to the gym, I had gradually gained weight month over month and found myself at the heaviest I had been in many years. Throughout the years prior to meeting Ami, I worked with several trainers, some good, some not so good, but no one and no program ever seemed to check all the boxes. Often, it seemed like trainers took a “one-size-fits-all” approach in their programs and there was no actual consideration for what worked best for the actual client. All of that changed when I began training with Ami. Ami genuinely cared about my goals, what I wanted to accomplish, and tailored a program specifically designed for me. In addition to training, Ami also created sustainable meal plans specific to my dietary preferences (pescatarian), that she would often tweak and change if the results were not as expected. Over the course of several months, I built muscle, lost weight, was in the best shape of my life, and felt like myself again. Following Ami’s programs and guidance, I also developed habits that have led to long-term, maintainable, lifestyle changes focused on my fitness and wellness goals.

Ami is so much more than just a “trainer”; Ami is a mentor, a coach, a therapist, has the best laugh in the world, and more importantly, a friend. She will push you, challenge you, but also be your biggest cheerleader every step of the way!

My mom and I started working out with Ami about four years ago. Ami was referred to me by a good friend and she was exactly what I needed. On top of working out with her 3 days a week, she also put together a meal plan that was tailored to me. I had a goal of losing 15 to 20 pounds and with lots of hard work and commitment and of course having a great coach, I lost about 20 pounds. I’ve been doing IVF on and off for a while and she has incorporated foods and workouts that will benefit me the most during this process. Ami and Alex listen to their clients and truly design plans for their wants and needs. It’s not just a cookie-cutter work out that everyone does the same thing. I am so happy to have found Ami and Alex . They both are very knowledgeable and are true professionals. They have become family over the past 4 years!

I’ve worked with Ami for over 4 or 5 years now and could not recommend her enough. Her attention to detail is unmatched. She truly cares about each client she works with and wants you to succeed in whatever goal you have set for yourself. She holds you accountable but also encourages you to always give your best. She listens to your inputs and thoughts to work with you on what is best fit for you overall. It’s hard to find this kind of work ethic and level of care in a coach. Choosing Ami as my fitness trainer has been a game changer.  When I trained in person at Affinity gym, Ami’s workouts were well-structured and focused.  She always made the most of my 45-minute sessions by including a variety of exercises that targeted different muscle groups.  Currently, I am training with Ami remotely since I had to move out of Jacksonville last year.  The combination of strength training and meal/nutrition plans have been fantastic to use and a great affordable option.  If I have weeks where I must travel for work, Ami will customize my workouts accordingly, since most hotels have limited gym equipment. 

 

I have suffered with chronic Rheumatoid Arthritis since I was 37 (I’m now 54). Ami’s knowledge of RA limitations and her understanding of what foods may cause RA “flare ups” is reflected in the customized meal plans & workouts that she sends me.  She factors in my long-term health not only with physical support, but she also gives emotional guidance to keep me motivated in pursuit of my fitness goals.
